Underground Laboratory
The Underground Laboratory is a long and deep cave. On one end a huge machine is suspended on a table made of stone, which seems to be really close to an altar. Inside the machine, an oval-shaped stone irradiates lights. It is evident that the machine is powered by the stone itself . A buzzing sound propagates by the various metallic cables.
Boss: After opening the door, they face baron Von Herkel himself, who is trying to resurrect his wife. He is insane and will shout an incoherent monologue like:
“What??? How did you get in here??? It doesn’t matter, you won’t stop me, Elizabeth shall rise again and with her I will rule over your putrid flesh for I am in control of life and death themselves! Prepare to become my servants!”.
Then he will become hostile towards you.
He has a mysterious metallic plate on his chest, with very long cables. Those cables are connected to three reborns.
If you kill one of them, the cable will enter a dead body nearby, pump a mysterious liquid inside it, and transform it into another of his servants. This operation takes 1 turn to complete. To avoid this, it is helpful to mortally wound the Baron or destroy the plate.
Epilogue
After the fatal blow, the baron will crawl towards the machine and will try to pull the main lever.
If the main lever is pulled, the casing on the machine will start to glow and the machine itself will unleash electrical discharges that deal 1d10 electric damage to everyone that’s touching the machine apart from who is pulling the lever. Then Elizabeth will begin to scream in pain and her flesh will melt, only to become another failed experiment. If not already dead, at this point the baron will die of a broken heart.
Then the machine will power down and the casing will break, revealing the Stone of Resurrection that was encased in it. The players can do whatever they want with it.
