Prologue

The Party is heading toward New Knoss, a big village close to the castle of Von Herkel. There is only one road that goes toward Red Rock and travels across the village. The party, coming from different paths, has just met on this road.

When the adventure starts, they are welcomed by strong wood barricades that seem to have been built around most of the village in the last days. A dense fog reduces the visibility of the forest, which has just entered the first stage of winter. Few snowflakes lazily fall from the sky. The big doorway of the village seems to have been destroyed, and there are many traces of blood.

The Village

The village is made mostly of woodhouses; a few inches of snow cover the roofs. On the ground, there is a frozen slush. Most of the houses seem to be abandoned, empty, or destroyed. A violent battle seems to have just ended, but the party can hear some noises coming from the center of the village.

When the party arrives at the center of the village, they are welcomed by a huge fountain with a column that tells about a local legend

Encounter: When the party arrives close to that area, they can hear some noises coming from one of the rooftops. The GM can choose to use one of the two encounter sets provided:

  • They are approached by a wounded The Horror (the creature has a long wooden beam in its chest and less HP to the GM discretion) and 1d4 “Reborns” surround the party.
  • They are approached rapidly by a Babuzee followed by a Wolfman.

You can choose the combination you like the most After defeating the creatures, the party can visit the Village. In that area, they can notice many dead bodies on the ground, and they can take a closer look at the monument. The column has a bas-relief that shows many dead bodies and skeletons rising and pointing their hands toward an oval-shaped rock that seems to irradiate lights toward the dead.
