Chapter I – The Village

Setting
In the Cold Region of Betzia, a tough war has been fought for more than two years. On one side the “Church of Blood” is trying to maintain its control and influence in the region with the help of the nobility and the King, while the “Order of the Nord Lions”, composed mostly of small rebellious vassals, is trying to gain independence.
However, a mystery baffles both factions: a remote castle on the North-East called Red Rock from the red granite that makes its structure, and the nearby region are struck by weird events. It seems that creepy creatures dwell in the forest around the castle, and many people disappeared in the region.
These events started two years ago (around the same time the war started) when Baron Von Herkel isolated himself inside Red Rock after his wife died of illness. At the court, many believed that this was motivated by grief, however, those who knew the research of the Baron, believed there is something more behind this decision…Something more obscure, connected to the ancient ruins that were found under the Rock.
To the GM
The events revolve around a magical stone that has the power of resurrecting the dead, but it does that in a twisted and corrupted way. The baron is trying to harness its power.
A much-desired stone: During session 0 you can try to establish a strong relationship between the stone and everyone of the players’ characters, but keep this relation secret between you and the player.
So in the epilogue, everyone will have a different reason to want the stone for himself and they will fight over it or will come up with a plan to benefit from it.
A war between factions: If you want to spice up things more, make two of the characters affiliated with the two rival factions, one of them could use the stone to make its faction prevail on the other
