Chapter Progress
0% Complete

This city was once thriving with passion and ingenuity after the mechagnomes built it from the heart of a mountain. Today, forsaken by its creators, Archelm Hold is vacant of all organic life. Only the Archelm Automatons roam these halls, carrying out the final command given to them by the Overseer. Much of Archelm Hold was damaged when the mechagnomes fled the city. The living and recreational wards were destroyed when the Archelm Automatons turned on their creators, as this was where most of the mechagnomes resided. Only a few wards remain untouched within Archelm Hold today. These surviving areas have since been maintained by the Archelm Automatons because they are essential to their survival.

Innovatium Ward

The Innovatium Ward is where the mechagnomes once conducted all of there research and testing during the first stages of engineering of a new Archelm Automaton. This ward consists of a single large cylindrical chamber. A wide staircase spirals upward a hollowed chamber Today, the Innovatium Ward is where The Overseer lies damaged at the bottom of the Innovatium Ward, broken from its final interaction with the mechagnomes. This being is protected by several Archelm Centurions which keep guard the entrance to the ward, preventing others from easily entering this chamber. Along the walls of this cylindrical chamber are shelves of endless records from the mechagnomes research. Reports of experimental successes and failures are bound together in tomes summarizing the specifics from each of their creations. All of this knowledge is written in Gnomish but is difficult to understand for even those fluent in the language. These tomes contain a level of mathematics which is only comprehendible by the most astute scholar or artificer. Further, these tomes were written using terminology that only the mechagnomes use to label their discoveries.

Constructium Ward

The Constructium Ward within Archelm Hold is where the mechagnomes once mass produced the Archelm Automatons. This area is fully operational today and capable of once again manufacturing dozens of automatons each day. However, each automaton requires a gyrocore to be powered and only a limited number exist. Currently, all gyrocores within Archelm Hold have already been used to build an Archelm Automaton. Therefore, the Constructium Ward rarely runs. Only if an automaton is damaged beyond repair, will it’s gyrocore be removed and used to create a brand new Archelm Automaton. This chamber is eerily quiet as all the heavy machinery sits idly waiting to be activated once again.

Praesidium Ward

The Praesidium Ward was created to house the hundreds of Archelm Automatons that were created for war. The mechagnomes stored deactivated automatons here immediately after their production within the Constructium Ward. Here the Archelm Automatons await the command to activate and start their march, bringing destruction to the world above. The Archelm War Machines are also stored here, locked away in the deepest corner of the Praesidium Ward. It’s unknown how many were created before The Overseer put an end to their madness. However, it’s believed that enough war machines were built to concern The Overseer with the safety of the entire realm. Each of these machines are capable of unimaginable destruction and if they were ever to be activated, it would take the might of the world’s combined strength to stop them. Within the Praesidium Ward are also repair stations, these cylindrical chambers are made from rebar-like metal structures. In the center sits a brass ten-foot dome. There are doors that open on each side of these domes. On the inside is a cushioned interior with a number of small, metallic objects and slight arcane flashing bits of energy. These chambers are used to repair the Archelm Automatons once they return from battle.
