With a hung lower portion, this shield appears like the open jaw of a centurion automaton, replete with mechanical whirring.
ITEM'S CHARACTERISTICS
Type: Armor (shield), Rare, Requires Attunement
Exhale. As a reaction when a creature misses you with a melee weapon attack, you can force the creature to make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw as the shield exhales a cloud of steam from its open jaw. A creature takes 1d8 fire damage as the shield breathes a plume of scalding air at the attacker on a failed saving throw. A creature is unaffected on a successful save.
